The Long Way Home

Well thanks to Bernie Williams and Derek Jeter smacking two homers apiece, they Yankees salvaged the last game of this series against the Angels to finish their long road trip at 7-4. Bernie Williams is having quite a year for someone who was supposed to be a part time player this year.

He is hitting .286 with 11 HR's and with his six RBI yesterday he now has 53 for the year, all in 357 AB's.

Jeter meanwhile continues his campaign for MVP with another solid day at the plate. His two HR's also gave him 11 for the year to go along with 81 RBI to go along with a lofty .337 batting average.

These are Jeter's projected totals for the year.

116 runs scored, 214 hits, 38 doubles, 33 stolen bases and 103 RBI (from the number two hole).

The Yankees have today off and will open a three games series against the Central Division leading Deroit Tigers. A-Rod could use the day off after going 0-15 over the weekend with 10 strikeouts.

Probable pitchers:

8/29 Nate Robertson (11-10) against Chinny Wang (15-5) 7:05 PM
8/30 Wilfredo Ledezma (2-1) against RJ (14-10) 7:05 PM on ESPN
8/31 Jeremy Bonderman (11-6) against Jaret Wright (9-7) 1:05PM on ESPN
